Royce Alan Childress, 86 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at his home at Brookdale Castleton Assisted Living on November 5, 2016. Royce was born May 27, 1930 in Bell, California

Royce grew up in Southern California and joined the Navy during The Korean War Conflict. While in the Navy he was a ‘Radioman’ and his skills soon aquired him the nickname ‘Radar.’ While in the Navy he and some buddies formed a band to entertain the troops in which he played the harmonica. After being Honorably Discharged from the Navy, Royce returned home to Southern California until 1980 when as a Machinist by trade he moved to Kent, Washington where he worked for The City Of Seattle until his retirement in 1996. Quickly bored with retirement, even though he was glad to have more time to spend on his Ham Radio, Royce also known by his Ham Radio Call Sign of KC7MO rekindled his life long passion of designing, building, and flying Model Airplanes, and joined the ‘Radio Aero Modelers’ as a training Coordinator. In 2015 recently widowed and with many health problems Royce moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to family. Residing at Brookdale Castleton Assisted Living Royce soon became well known for playing songs on his collection of harmonicas for fellow residents, as well as playing with several guest performers that visited, and was teaching his Great Grandson Jacob to play harmonica.

Royce is survived by his 3 Children, 11 Grandchildren and too many Great Grandchildren to count.
